Film Plan
As part of my website I will be creating a short film. Video's are effective as they mix images and sound so they appeal to a wide group of people in lots of ways. I want to engage my audience because this will attract them to look at more content on my website. This
will be included on my website as videos are attention grabbing, more
emotional, engages the audience and can be more informative than just text. This will appeal to my target audience of younger people, it will also benefit my website as it is easy to make cross media links.
From my research I fond that when creating a charity video’s they tend to fit into 4 major
categories;
1.
Narrative-
narrative videos have a start, middle and an end and will tell somebody else’s
story. An advantage of using a narrative video is that it engages your target
audience as they watch to see what will happen. It is also a good way of
summarising what the charity is about.
2.
Testimonial-
testimonial video is when someone tells their own story. They tend to be plain,
simple and interview-like. An advantage of using a testimonial video is it’s
easiest to make and is an easy way to show what something is about quickly.
3.
Surreal-
surreal videos tend to be intentionally odd and different looking; because of
this surreal videos stand out. An advantage of a surreal video is it can easily
get the audiences attention.
4.
Bandwagon-
bandwagon videos are based around what everyone else is doing and gets
everybody involved. An advantage of using a bandwagon video is that it makes
the audience get involved. This works well for a charity website as it
encourages people to donate or take part.
After considering the pro's and con's of these types of video's I decided to create a surreal/testimonial video. The benefit of using a surreal video is that it’s easy to grab the audience’s attention and because its testimonial too another benefit is that it shows what the charity is about quickly. I feel this mix up is the most engaging as it is unusual and will stand out as surreal films are memorable. It is also emotionally engaging as we will hear someones story. One of the upsides of of a surreal video is it will allow me to present up setting ideas in an artistic way so people should not feel put off.

The first scene of my video will be in black and white and
will show a close up of a girl with bruises on her face. There will be silence
at this part of the video, the camera will then slowly zoom out, to see a man
behind her screaming but there is still no noise. I have done this to create an emotional impact on the audience. It will also engage the audience as they will want to find out what happens to the girl. When the camera reaches a
long shot we will see a man shouting at the girl, however, the video is still in silence. This will create an impact of shock because although the audience cannot hear what the man is shouting, we know that the girl is in danger. When his hand is about to hit the back of
her head, the scene pauses. The screen will then show statistics of how many
children are abused neglected or exploited a year. It will then show a rapid
series of pictures of the bruises fading from her face when they have all gone
she will say “hi my name is ... and I was helped by The Invisible Children”. It
will then show a boy who will say “hi my name is ... and The Invisible Children
helped me overcome neglect”. After a few people have said this it will then go
over to the ‘creator’ of The Invisible Children telling the audience about how
they have helped all these children. I feel this is powerful because it will show how many people the charity has helped in a short amount of time showing the audience that it is a legitimate charity who's main focus is helping children who have been abused in someway.
I also think it is important that i used a boy and a girl in my video, this is because it appeals to a broader audience, meaning that males and females can both relate to my video.
The video will end with a shot of my logo because it will show my audience who my charity are and allow the logo of my charity to become a recognisable brand.

I want my video to make the audience feel shocked as the
topic of my charity is serious and by making it shocking it causes more
awareness to the abuse, neglect and exploited of children. This is more likely to encourage people to get involved and help.
My video will be on the homepage to right hand side; this is
so people can notice this easily. After people have watched this because its
attention grabbing hopefully it will encourage people to view the rest of the
website. I feel it is important that my video is one of the first things my audience watch as it will quickly explain the topic and purpose of my website.
